What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital SIM card embedded directly in your phone. It allows you to download and activate a cellular data plan instantly without having to swap out a physical SIM card.

Perfect for travel, you can buy and load local plans before you even step foot on the plane. Save time, skip airport queues, and connect the second you land.

How does an eSIM work?

An eSIM does the same job as a physical SIM, it identifies your phone to a mobile network. The difference is where it lives. Instead of a plastic card you insert, it's a chip already built into your phone.

When you buy a JusteSIMs eSIM, you're not buying new hardware. You're loading a local data plan onto that existing chip, which then connects you to strong partner networks at your destination the same way any local SIM would.

What are the benefits of eSIMs?

  • Instant delivery

No trip to a kiosk, no waiting for the post. Your eSIM lands as a QR code the second you check out.

  • Impossible to lose

Once it's installed, there's no card to drop, damage, or leave behind in a hotel drawer.

  • Lighter on the planet

No plastic card, no tray, no packaging. Just data.

  • No roaming shock

Buy the plan upfront and know the cost upfront, no surprise bill waiting when you land back home.

  • Set up before you fly

Install it on WiFi at home, then switch it on the moment you land.

  • Room for more than one

Cover several countries from one device, no bag full of physical SIMs required.

Frequently asked questions

Will an eSIM work on my phone?

Most phones released since 2018 support eSIM, including recent iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, and Google Pixel models. Check if your device is eSIM compatible above, and make sure it's carrier-unlocked.

Is an eSIM safe to use?

Yes. An eSIM works the same way as a physical SIM and uses the same network security standards. It can't be removed or swapped by someone else the way a physical card can, so there's less risk of it being tampered with.

Can I keep my existing phone number?

Yes. A travel eSIM runs alongside your regular SIM or eSIM, so your existing number stays active for calls and texts on WiFi. The JusteSIMs eSIM handles your mobile data at your destination.

What happens if I lose or replace my phone?

An eSIM is tied to the device it's installed on, so it can't be transferred by moving a physical card. If you get a new phone, you'll need a new eSIM plan for it. Contact us if this happens mid-trip and we'll help sort out a replacement.

Can I have more than one eSIM on my phone at once?

Yes. Most eSIM-compatible phones can store several eSIM profiles and switch between them, so you can keep separate plans for different countries or trips without removing anything.

Does using an eSIM drain my battery faster?

No. An eSIM uses the same radio hardware as a physical SIM, so it has no real effect on battery life. Battery use comes down to how much data you're using, not which type of SIM you're using.
