Frequently asked questions
What do I need before I install my eSIM?
Stable WiFi, an eSIM-compatible unlocked phone, and the confirmation email with your QR code and install link. You can install any time after buying, there's no rush.
Can I install my eSIM before I leave home?
Yes, and we recommend it. Install on WiFi while you're still home, leave data roaming off, then activate the moment you land.
How do I set up my eSIM?
Your eSIM lands in your inbox within seconds of checkout. Follow the steps in the email to get it installed before you fly, then activate it and you'll have signal from the moment you land. Full walkthrough on our Getting Started page.
Can I install my eSIM on more than one device?
No. Once installed, your eSIM is tied to that device and can't be moved or transferred, even by restoring a backup. If you get a new phone, you'll need a new eSIM plan for it.
When should I activate my eSIM?
Activate when you land, not before. Your plan's validity period starts on activation, not purchase, so installing early costs you nothing.
Will activating my eSIM affect my regular number?
Your regular SIM stays on so you still receive calls, texts, and verification codes as normal. But making calls or sending texts from it while abroad can still trigger your carrier's own international roaming charges, separate from your eSIM, turning off data roaming doesn't stop those. For calls, stick to data apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage, Skype, or Google Meet over your eSIM instead, that's already covered by your plan. Want your travel number to make real calls and texts without that risk? Add a Voice Pass.
Can I use my eSIM alongside my regular SIM?
Yes, that's exactly how it's designed to work. Your phone runs both lines at once: your regular SIM stays on for receiving calls, texts, and verification codes, your eSIM handles data. Just know that making calls or sending texts from your regular SIM abroad can still trigger your carrier's own roaming charges, so stick to data apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage, Skype, or Google Meet over your eSIM instead. Added a Voice Pass? Your eSIM can handle real calls and texts too.
What if my trip is delayed or my plans change?
No problem. Your eSIM stays valid for 180 days from purchase, so as long as you haven't activated yet, there's no rush. If your trip's cancelled entirely, contact us before you activate and we'll refund you in full.
What happens if I run out of data?
Contact us and we'll top you up. No need to buy a new eSIM from scratch.
Can I get a refund?
If your trip's cancelled before you activate, yes, in full. If your phone turns out not to support eSIM, also yes, even after purchase, as long as you haven't activated. Once your eSIM is activated and working, we can't offer a refund, but we'll always help fix a connection problem.
How long is my eSIM valid for?
180 days from the date you buy it. That's how long you have to activate, so buying early for an upcoming trip never costs you anything.
Does my plan auto-renew?
No. JusteSIMs plans are prepaid, one-time data bundles, not subscriptions. Nothing to cancel, no surprise renewal charges.
How do I know if my phone supports eSIM?
Most phones released since 2018 support eSIM. Make sure your phone is carrier-unlocked, then check your exact model below.
What if my phone isn't eSIM compatible?
If you find out after buying, contact us before activating and we'll give you a full refund.
My phone supports eSIM but it's locked to a carrier, will it work?
Not until it's unlocked. Even eSIM-capable phones sold locked to one carrier, common with US phones bought on a plan, can't add an outside eSIM until you unlock it with your carrier.
Do I need a physical SIM card too?
No. An eSIM is entirely digital, so there's no card to fit and no SIM shop queue to stand in.
Will I still get calls and texts on my regular number?
Your regular SIM stays on, so incoming calls, texts, and verification codes still reach you as normal. Outgoing calls and texts from that number can still trigger your carrier's own international roaming charges though, that's separate from your eSIM and isn't affected by turning data roaming off. For calls while you travel, use data apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage, Skype, or Google Meet over your eSIM, no surprise charges there. Want your travel number to handle real calls and texts too? Add a Voice Pass.
Is support available 24/7?
Our chat is, so you can get an instant answer any time, wherever you are. Our team is online during business hours for anything that needs a human touch.
What's a Voice Pass?
An add-on that gives your eSIM real calling and texting on your travel number, on top of its data. Without one, you can still stay in touch through data-based apps like WhatsApp, iMessage, FaceTime, Skype, or Google Meet.
Can I use my eSIM as a hotspot?
Yes, hotspot and tethering are supported on every plan, so you can share your connection with a laptop or another device while you travel.
